Although choosing to explore texture as my photographic element may have been an obvious choice when the subject is a dead tree, I was very intrigued with the diversity of textures within one subject. Some sections of the bark of the tree were smooth and worn down, while other sections had peeling layers of rough and faded bark. In another section where the tree had fallen over, sharp rugged points with a very grainy texture marked the place where the tree had once stood. The variety, beauty and complexities of the textures in the image led me to choosing to explore them in the photographs above.
